The World Energy & Infrastructure Summit 2018

Post Conference Report

Amsterdam Marriott Hotel, Amsterdam

In September over 200 senior project finance professionals from across the globe headed to Amsterdam for IJGlobal's World Energy and Infrastructure Summit 2018. They gathered for two days of networking, industry analysis and sharing of best practice.

A range of panels, presentations, debates, case studies and closed door roundtables scrutinized various key concerns for the industry, including the implementation of hybrid financing structures, the rise of corporate PPA opportunities and the development of PPP pipelines the world over.

Sessions of note…

The Big Debate!

A highlight of the conference came as two juggernauts of the industry came head to head in a controversial but fun debate to determine whether the market has been “failing to deliver truly essential infrastructure.” Unsurprisingly, the room strongly disagreed with the notion! The debate served as an entertaining interlude for attendees, whilst raising some thought provoking topics.

Infrastructure leadership council roundtable

We were delighted to host the first in a series of roundtables, which brought together ahost of public sector parties from across the globe. Without anyone from the private sector in attendance, the meeting allowed them to discuss best practice, share experience, and air their own grievances.

Nacala Corridor case study
The room was full to bursting, as delegates heard from key participants involved in this award winning deal about its journey to financial close. The integrated and transformative project was of particular interest, with it being praised as a potential template for other significant resource-based transport projects in Africa in the future.

Who attended

"The 9th Annual World Energy & Infrastructure Summit provided me with a distilled view on the investment environment in a number of territories that we were interested in. Content was clear and concise. I would highly recommend attendance for anyone in this space."
